Squeaky Clean

Everyone deserves a master bath they love. Big or small, it should bring you rest and relaxation.

This, like many others, was a fun renovation. What started as an outdated but functional 1950s bathroom was transformed into a modern master bath that matched the taste, and upgrades of the rest of the house. Though smaller in size, it now has squeaky clean design with fun details that make this a place to relax and enjoy.

Before:

What we did:
-Installed a custom vanity which was painted in pebble gray by Glidden.
-New quartz counter top in calcutta gray
-Added new chrome hardware.
-Put in a new toilet.
-Laid a funky retro white tile and a marble hexagon tile in the shower.
-Removed the tub and installed a standing shower with white subway tile.
-Painted the room and put in a new mirror.

When an architect and designer calls you for an estimate on their space, we get excited. It is so rewarding to work with people who are in the business because they tend to know the difference between average customer service and our Summey Industries level of attentiveness. It also means that your client has a strong design aesthetic, cares about size and scale and feel -- it means that we can get really proud of the space we create together. It also means that the owner cares to maintain the authenticity of an original home - making it fit his current needs without destroying the integrity of the time period in which the home was built. Such was the case when we teamed up with a Richardson architect on his 1950's home.

We knew our client wanted to add some square footage to his current, original-to-the-home master bath. We demolished some walls and made use of some wasted living room space, and then cantilevered the exterior wall over the edge of the grade beam to add some additional space to the master. Flow was important since space was at a premium, so custom built ins were the solution. A pocket door also helped reclaim space -- when you don't have to open a door in or out you have more options with fixture and furniture placement inside and outside of the bathroom. For visual interest we installed floor to ceiling tile work. Even in Texas, toes can get chilly in the early morning and so the team was excited to install and test out the heated floor system, which ended up being one of our favorite practical aspects of the new bathroom. A custom vanity with built in drawers and a gorgeous shade of paint rounded out this impeccable master bathroom addition and renovation. Every project brings our team a keen sense of accomplishment for all who work on it. These clients were such a joy to team with, and we were so pleased with the end result. We know that they are loving the radiant heat flooring this month for sure!
